If you do not see a class date that meets your needs please call Sue at 410-382-4325. We typically offer 2 day trainings the first week of the month and 1 day trainings on alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the year.

Food Safety Manager Certification is also known in Baltimore County as Level I training. We use the most up-to-date Servsafe Essentials 5th Edition Book including the 2009 FDA food code update.

New Certifications

16 hour Training and Exam

If you are required by your jurisdiction to have a certified food handler on site you will need 16 hours of training.


We offer two class formats to meet your needs:
  • 16 hour traditional classroom training. You will recieve a study guide upon registration, it is recommended that you review the study guide prior to class. You will be assigned some reading outside of class time between day one and two. Cost of $17 includes ServSafe training by a State of Maryland approved ServSafe instructor and exam. Books are provided for use during class or may be purchased.
  • 8 hr homestudy with 8 hr classroom. If you are a self-starter and willing to do some homework this is the class for you. We take food safety seriously and expect that students taking this course do the bookwork that is requested. Employers: If you are not confident your employee will finish the assigned work please consider our 16 hour ServSafe classroom course.
    There will be a pre-class check by the instructor to verify that course work has been completed. Any student not completing required work may be asked to return to a future class. There will be no refunds for students not completing work. Cost of $135 include ServSafe training by a State of Maryland approved ServSafe instructor and exam. Books are provided for use during class or may be purchased.

Re-Certification

8 hour Training & Exam

8 hour classroom time is required. You will recieve a study guide upon registration, it is recommended that you review the study guide prior to class. Cost of $135 includes ServSafe™ training by a State of Maryland approved ServSafe™ instructor and exam. Books are provided for use during class or may be purchased.

Private Training Sessions

Train several staff members at one time or when you need emergency training for one.


Cost for Multi student private sessions are $300 per day plus $50 per student. Online testing is available with same day results. Certificates arrive in 7-10 business days.

Employee Training

2 hour in house employee food safety training.

We can train your entire food service staff using the Servsafe™ Starters program. This program is a shorter version of the Servsafe™ Manager Training. Training your staff how to serve safe food can not only save your reputation but can also save you money from helping to avoid unnessary food spoilage and even from being sued. With over 10 years as a food facility owner, we understand the challenges you face when training your employees in good food safety. The 2 hour mini-course is designed specifically for your facility and is delivered using proven techiques to help your staff learn the importance of serving safe food.
Cost is $250 for first 10 students and $10 for each additional student. Course includes the Servsafe™ Starters employee book and certificate of completion from SMF Training Solutions.
